Venue

Hangzhou, referred to as "Hang", is the capital and deputy provincial city of Zhejiang Province. It is located in the southeast coast of China, northern Zhejiang Province, the lower reaches of the Qiantang River, and the southern end of the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal. It is the political, economic, cultural, educational, transportation, and financial center of Zhejiang Province. , One of the central cities of the Yangtze River Delta urban agglomeration, the node city of the Ninghang Ecological Economic Belt in the Yangtze River Delta, one of China's important e-commerce centers, and a new first-tier city. As of 2017, Hangzhou has 10 districts, 2 counties, and 1 county-level city under its jurisdiction, with a total area of 16,596 square kilometers, a permanent population of 9.188 million, and an urbanization rate of 76.2%. In 2016, the per capita disposable income of Hangzhou residents was 46,116 yuan, and the total retail sales of consumer goods was 51.762 billion yuan.

Hangzhou has a history of more than 2,200 years since the establishment of the county government in the Qin Dynasty. It was once the capital of Wu Yueguo and the Southern Song Dynasty, and is one of the eight ancient capitals of China. Because of its beautiful scenery, it is known as "Heaven on Earth". Thanks to the convenience of the Beijing-Hangzhou Canal and commercial ports, as well as its own developed silk and grain industries, Hangzhou has historically been an important commercial distribution center. Later, relying on the opening of Shanghai-Hangzhou railway and other railway lines and Shanghai's drive in import and export trade, light industry developed rapidly.

There are many cultural and historic sites in Hangzhou, and there are a lot of natural and cultural landscapes in and around the West Lake. The main representative unique cultures include West Lake Culture, Liangzhu Culture, Silk Culture, Tea Culture, and many stories and legends handed down as representatives of Hangzhou culture.

The 2018 World Short Swimming Championships and the 2022 Asian Games will be held in Hangzhou. On November 26, 2018, it was awarded the title of China's Happiest City.
